Holiday Discount Centre hopes to expand its homeworking operation by recruiting more agents overseas.
Two of the agency’s 20 homeworkers already work from home in Cyprus.
Managing director Steve Campion said the company will initially target more agents in Cyprus as Voice over Internet Protocol phone technology means there is no significant extra cost to have calls routed to overseas staff.
He said: “With the introduction of VoIP, the incremental costs are cheap from a telephone perspective. Overseas staff can do the same job and earn the same amount as in the UK but often they have a higher standard of living.”
For those working in a country they also sell to customers, the benefits are also obvious. “They have far more knowledge about the destination,” added Campion.
The company is also developing a bookable package holidays website over the next six months. Its site ulookubook.com currently only offers bookable dynamic packages.
