Co-op Travel to rebrand shops

The Co-operative Travel hopes to rebrand all its shops by spring next year, according to retail boss Trevor Davis.

Davis, head of retail distribution, said the group is rolling out the Co-operative Travel branding across its 430 shops, which are currently branded Co-op Travel or Travelcare.

So far only 12 shops are branded as the Co-operative Travel as part of a trial period for the merged business.

“The process has started but will not be complete until spring 2008. It’s a lengthy process – it’s not just a case of putting new branding above the shop fronts,” he said. “We have a brand development team working on it.”

The group is hosting a get-together in Manchester in December for shop managers from the two former United Co-op and Travelcare groups to get to know each other and get an update on the integration of the businesses.

Meanwhile, a successor to Davis as general manager of the group’s Freedom Travel Group was due to be announced today.
