Freedom Travel Agents appoints Jane Atkins as new head

The Co-operative Travel Group has appointed Jane Atkins as the new head of the Freedom Travel Agents’ Consortium.

The former MyTravel director of sales and retail commercial replaces Trevor Davis who announced his resignation from the role at the constorium’s Majorca conference earlier this month. He is now the Co-operative Travel Group’s head of retail.

Atkins said: “This role presents a great opportunity for me to work with an excellent organisation with a clear business strategy. In a turbulent consortia marketplace, Freedom has security, stability and a great commercial proposition.

“Freedom is not just about agent numbers but the quality of its offering and its commitment to serving the needs of its members. We have a fantastic team, part of a Co-operative organisation and therefore free of any concern about shareholders.

“My key role will be to build on Freedom’s strategic direction and in doing so, I will be listening very carefully to members’ views and taking them into account in developing further membership benefits.”

Atkins will assume the position at the consortium, which has around 120 members with a further 25 applications pending, on December 3.
