Joanne, 23, and Christopher Buckley, 24, got married at Couples Ocho Rios, in Jamaica, in July.
They booked their £3,500 two-week wedding package with Suzanne Barney of Travel Counsellors.
Why did you choose to get married in Jamaica?
In the brochures, Jamaica looked completely different from anywhere we’d ever been before.
We got married at the start of July and wanted to be somewhere in the Caribbean for our honeymoon. Jamaica looked like the perfect place to relax after the hectic run up to the wedding and Couples Ocho Rios was truly ideal.
Did the holiday meet your expectations?
Definitely – we thought Jamaica was beautiful. Couples Ocho Rios and the staff were fantastic and the whole honeymoon and ambience was so chilled out that it was impossible not to relax.
What were the highlights?
The Dunns River Fall excursion, which involved climbing a waterfall while holding the hand of the person next to you. The guides were so professional that we felt really safe. We also swam with dolphins, which was amazing.
What advice would you give to other honeymooners?
Be prepared to tip. Although most of the excursions are included in the package price, the coach and taxi drivers who transfer you to your excursion expect a tip.
Take US dollars – although Jamaican dollars are accepted, everything’s priced in US dollars and it offered a better exchange rate.
Did you try any other excursions?
Besides Dunns River Falls and swimming with dolphins, we went on the catamaran cruise – if you do this, don’t sit at the front or you will get very wet! We also went scuba diving and visited the craft market.
Any low points?
Returning home.
Would you go again?
Definitely, we are already planning to go back for our two-year anniversary.
