TOURISM trainees will work at a Thomas Cook agency on campus to give them real-life experience of the industry.
The shop, at Basingstoke College of Technology, will be open to the public but also be a training ground for travel and tourism students.
It will be run by three Thomas Cook staff along with a student on either a two week or month-long work placement. Retail director Manny Fontenla-Novoa said:”The students can expect to learn all about the industry as well as gaining in-depth work experience. The students will be trained to the same standards expected of full-time staff.”
Thomas Cook will also use the scheme to groom students for possible future employment.
