IF Avis has any sense, it will not allow group marketing manager Oliver Rait anywhere near its glistening fleet of cars. Or at least not judging by his unnerving performance at a recent go-karting extravaganza with Magic Travel Group.
Dubbed a speed freak by friends and colleagues, Oliver tore a route to victory with what eye-witnesses said was a display of some frighteningly fierce go-karting.
He beat off 44 fellow drivers in a vicious qualifying round and battled with the eight quickest contestants in a gruelling 15-lap final.
Oliver finished clear leader of the pack with Magic’s Pino Russo and Massimo Tramaglini completing the top three.
In true racing-style, the winners received their trophies on a specially built podium before wasting vast quantities of champagne by spraying it everywhere but where it was supposed to go.
And we were thinking times were hard.
