A plane has crashed in Turkey, killing all 49 passengers and seven crew on board. The Atlasjet plane was travelling from Istanbul to Isparta in south west Turkey.

A seven hour effort by the elite forces of the Philippine military ended an attempted coup yesterday. Armed rebels stormed and occupied a luxury hotel in Manila.

A group of performers in straightjackets took over a London tube station yesterday to promote the attractions of Cornwall. The campaign was designed to contrast the restrictions of London to the wide open spaces of Cornwall.

Northern Ireland is launching a tourism campaign to “turn old negatives into positives”. The campaign will place a new emphasis on Orange and Protestant culture.
