THREE airlines have admitted in court that they misled consumers over the issue of Passenger Service Charges.
The admission came during the court case involving ABTAand the airlines at the Royal Courts of Justice, which began last week.
William Wood, QC for British Airways, Virgin Atlantic and Lufthansa, told the court that PSCis a charge per person payable by the carrier. The airlines admitted they were wrong when they described PSCon their Web sites as a tax, and showed the charge as separate from the air fare.
The admission looks set to add weight to ABTA’s argument in the court case that the airlines are acting illegally by separating PSC from the overall air fare.
ABTA wants the airlines to calculate the PSCcharge in their commission payments.
The case is due to finish tomorrow.
