Travelscope goes into administration

Travelscope Holidays has gone into administration and ceased taking bookings from today.

The Gloucester-based tour operator offered worldwide cruises and European river cruises as well as escorted tours and is understood to have sold holidays through more than 1,000 independent travel agents.

Paul Clark, Andrew Stoneman and Phil Duffy, of Menzies Corporate Restructuring have been appointed joint administrators.

A statement by the administrators said: “All tradiing activities are currently being suspended and no further holiday bookings are being taken.”

All enquiries are being referred to its website www.travelscope.co.uk.

The company has been running for 16 years and built its sales through affinity marketing, promoting its product under partners’ brands. It also worked closely with independent agents, particularly in the last two years, building up a £10 million business in its first year of selling ex-UK ocean and European river cruises through independent agents (Travel Weekly, September 2006).

For 2008 it was offering cruises out of Harwich, Hull and Flamouth to worldwide destinations based on its chartered ship MV Van Gogh.
