Travel firms in the Best Companies scheme: Explore Worldwide

Explore Worldwide managing director Ashley ToftExplore Worldwide managing director Ashley Toft (pictured right) said Explore entered Best Companies because it was so important to the operator to be ‘a great place to work’.

He said: “I’m a firm believer that if staff are happy and working with an exciting product, the rest follows naturally – the quality of your product, the service and customer satisfaction.”

Although surveys of its 140 staff conducted in house every year indicated that employees were pretty pleased with the company, Toft said he wanted to benchmark Explore against other companies that entered the scheme.

“Gaining one star means that we were up there in the top half of those that entered, but I see this as a platform to move forward and we’ll be aiming for three stars in the future.”

Explore was rated highly by its staff for giving something back to local communities, but Toft admitted there was room for improvement in other areas covered by the scheme. “We acknowledge that we have work to do and we will be striving to improve,” he added.
