Agents missing out on car rental revenue

Agents are missing out on valuable revenue from car rental, Car Trawler chief technical officer Bobby Healy told visitors at the Travel Technology Show.

The car hire distribution company is looking to increase its work with agents, who often shy away from selling car hire, said Healy.

“Agents should recognise that car hire is an important source of revenue.

“The best way is to send a follow–up e–mail to customers after they have booked their trip, as car hire is often an afterthought. This could make the difference between not making a profit and making one.”

The company, which provides pricing and availability information from 450 suppliers, signed its first travel agent client last week.

The SouthAfrican–based Club Travel Group signed a three–year agreement for Car Trawler to supply car rental for its online travel portal as well as its 64 agencies and 80 independent travel consultants.
