Club Med revamps agent website

Club Med has revamped its agent-only website after seeing a 100% year-on-year growth in revenues through the site during 2008.

Head of sales UK and Scandinavia Steve O’Loughlin said the new-look site features more content, has video clips and is also quicker and easier to navigate around.

He added: “More agents are asking about our website and more agents are using it.”

O’Loughlin added agents will also be able to go online and amend bookings after they have made them and it is hoped the move will drive more trade business onto the web.

He said agents will also benefit following the operator’s call centre move from Paris, where it was based for seven years, to Putney in January. It has a staff of 13.

O’Loughlin said: “Following the move we now have more control and discretion of what we should be selling.”

He added the move, along with the additional information online, will see the call centre’s conversion rate increase from up to 13% at the moment to 85% ultimately as agents use the updated site to gather information before making the booking on the phone if needs be.

O’Loughlin said the operator has also signed a deal that will see marketing and merchandising staff visit around 350 independent agents nationwide providing them with training and updated information.
