A rail-air booking tie-up has been forged between bmi regional and Virgin Trains.
Rail travel booking is being added to the airline’s website as its establishes a new base at Birmingham airport. Flights to Graz in Austria start on February 27, followed by Nuremberg and Gothenburg on May 8.
The new booking option allows users to obtain tickets to use on Virgin Trains routes from Birmingham International.
The latest partnership enables air, train, car hire and accommodation to be booked via the flybmi.com website following deals between the airline and car rental company Sixt and Booking.com in September.
Bmi Regional chief commercial officer, Jochen Schnadt, said: “We pride ourselves on offering customers quality and convenience. The partnership with Virgin Trains allows us to develop this important niche further, so that flybmi.com becomes a one stop shop for all of our customers’ needs, whether business or leisure.
“This new partnership expands bmi regional’s reach in the UK and allows our customers travelling to/from Graz, Gothenburg and Nuremberg to conveniently connect on Virgin Trains to London, the north-west and Scotland and the wider rail network.”
Virgin Trains head of sales Mandy Robinson added: “With fast and frequent services to Birmingham International, linking the UK’s largest cities, getting to the airport by rail couldn’t be easier with the likes of London are just one hour 14 minutes away.”
