Walt Disney World in Florida has announced the opening of Pandora – The World of Avatar.
The 12-acre land will open at the Orlando theme park from May 27, 2017.
Details released so far about the family-friendly world of Pandora include the Na’vi River Journey, which will send riders through a bioluminescent rainforest before an encounter with a Na’vi Shaman.
On the Avatar Flight of Passage ride, guests can ride a Mountain Banshee like those featured in the treble Oscar-winning film, which came out in 2009.
Guests will also be able to dine at Satu’li Canteen, grab a drink at Pongu Pongu or shop for Na’vi cultural items, toys, science kits, and more at the Windtraders souvenir shop.
The expansion completes the transformation of Disney’s Animal Kingdom from a day into nighttime theme park.
Chief executive Bob Iger also announced that its Star Wars-themed lands at its Disney parks will open in 2019.
