Ranting United Airlines pilot removed from flight

A United Airlines pilot was removed from a flight after ranting to passengers about her divorce and the US election.

The woman, who has not been identified, was escorted off the plane which was due to take off from Austin, Texas.

Witnesses said she was wearing civilian clothing and told passengers she was going through a divorce.

She then said she did not care whether the passengers “voted for Trump or Clinton, they’re both assholes”.

Video footage shows the pilot telling passengers: “So I’ll stop, and we’ll fly the plane.

“Don’t worry. I’m going to let my co-pilot fly it. He’s a man. If you don’t feel safe, get off the airplane.”

It is believed around 20 passengers left the plane before it left for San Francisco.

The airline confirmed that the pilot had been removed on Saturday and that another flight crew subsequently flew to San Francisco.
