ABTOF to add trade section to website

The Association of British Tour Operators to France is adding a trade section to its website to strengthen relationships with travel agents.

Chief executive Martyn Sumners said the site should allow agents to search for information and tour operators before clicking through to book with their preferred operator.

The board is due to approve the section on Wednesday to allow it to go live on franceyesyoucan.com by October for summer 2009 sales.

Sumners said: “For a long time the view among operators has always been agents never seem to want to sell France, while the view from agents was that operators never really gave them any support.

“Now we’ve got a tool that we can use, we are looking at how we can develop it for the benefit of all.”

He added the site will be vital in supplying information for increasingly demanding customers while also alerting agents to niche operators.

Around 60% of ABTOF’s members work with agents and it is hoped this will help more to do so, added Sumners.
