Five die in plane crash close to Portuguese holiday resort

A small plane has crashed in Portugal, between the capital of Lisbon and the upmarket holiday resort of Cascais.

Five died in the crash involving the Swiss-registered plane when it came down in Tires, Portugal, on Sunday.

The pilot, three passengers and a lorry driver were killed in the incident. Three of the dead were French citizens and one Swiss, the BBC reports.

The plane had been travelling towards Marseille.

The cause of the crash is yet to be confirmed.
