Business travel giant Carlson Wagonlit Travel has been rated among the top 1% of all companies for its responsible business practices.
The travel management company was awarded a gold Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) rating, up from the previous Silver rating, by environmental and social performance rating agency EcoVadis.
A methodology that rates companies according to 21 CSR criteria is used under four themes: environment, labour, fair business practices and sustainable procurement.
CWT’s performance in each of these four categories was evaluated looking at policies, actions and results.
Kurt Ekert, CWT president and chief executive, said: “Responsible business is a fundamental element of our overall business practice and something we live and breathe, every day.
“This is a direct result of CWT’s culture and core values: integrity, caring, leadership and passion. In whatever decision we make, we consider the impact on the environment in which we operate.”
The company’s global responsible business vice president, Françoise Grumberg, added: “It is testament to the hard work, dedication and engagement of our colleagues at every level of our business, across nearly 150 countries, that we have been recognised amongst the global leaders in corporate social responsibility,”
