THE southeast needs another runway to make up capacity which has been taken up by the low-cost carriers, according to Airtours International managing director Dave.
The lack of capacity was a major worry, Henry told the Leisure Aviation conference in London.
“The no-frills airlines have taken away the safety valves of Luton and Stansted.
“I don’t care where it is, but the southeast needs another runway and quickly.”
Henry said Airtours International was using more regional airports so that it could take the strain off the southeast and meet growing customer demand.
“People want the convenience of flying from their local airport so we now have aircraft based in 14 regions,” he said. “That is not easy to co-ordinate.”
