Raynor retires from Leger Holidays

Leger Holidays retail sales director Peter Raynor has announced his retirement after 23 years working for the operator.

His last day will be on August 29 and his departure from the company will mark the end of 35 years working in the travel industry.

Leger hopes to make announcement soon about his replacement.

Raynor said: “I haven’t always been in travel, my career stated in engineering as a design draughtsman – this gave me the opportunity to work in South Africa where I designed tin cans for fruit and sardines, which is why I find coach holidays so exciting.

“For the past 35 years I have been in the travel industry, initially as a travel agent in Derby and Leicester, then a sales rep for BMI – BMA in those days – and for the last 28 years in tour operating of which 23 years have been spent at Leger Holidays.

“When I first started at Leger, there were eight of us and it was all hands to the pump.

“It’s a different story today with a team of over 120 all with their personal responsibilities.

“I will move on with some fantastic memories, in particular the people I have met, then there’s the places I’ve seen.”
