Flybe cashes in on Cardiff Champions League final

Flybe has reported a surge in sales on its European routes into Cardiff and Birmingham as football fans snap up seats to travel to the Welsh capital for the Champions League final.

Spanish giants Real Madrid and Italian champions Juventus go head-to-head at Principality Stadium on Saturday June 3 in one of the biggest matches of the football calendar.

Regional carrier Flybe has added extra capacity between Milan and Birmingham between June 2 and June 4 due to demand from Juventus supporters.

Flybe operates 15 routes in total to and from Cardiff airport and all its European services are benefitting from extra bookings as fans make their way from Paris, Berlin, Dublin and Munich.

Vincent Hodder, Flybe’s chief revenue officer, said: “Flybe specialises in connecting people and communities and we will always try and go the extra mile in trying to accommodate the many extra fans wanting to support their various teams and attend high profile sporting events throughout the year.

“The demand for our flights into both Cardiff and Birmingham highlights shows just how much of a European-wide attraction the Champions League final is.”
