Barrhead Travel is the only travel agency to be named in a list of Scotland’s Top 100 Limited Companies.
Grant Thornton’s ‘Scotland Ltd’ report for 2016 takes an analytical look at the best performing businesses, exploring key trends across sectors.
The accountancy firm acknowledged that the Scottish economy had experienced a challenging year, and commended all companies in the Top 100 for demonstrating resilience in the economic climate.
Barrhead Travel was assessed within the report’s food, drink and leisure sector category, with almost a quarter (24%) of businesses from this sector making the Top 100.
Factors which influenced the travel agency’s inclusion included a strong year in which turnover increased £21 million from 2015.
Andrew Howie, Managing Partner of Grant Thornton in Scotland and Northern Ireland, said: “The latest Scotland Ltd report reflects a year of disruption and uncertainty in the Scottish economy. In an increasingly complex world, businesses that innovate and embrace change are reaping the rewards of their efforts.
“Barrhead Travel stands out as a company that remains focused on creating long term, sustainable growth, driven by its commitment to build a unique customer experience.”
The agency group’s chief executive Sharon Munro said: “We are immensely proud to feature in this report highlighting the companies which are at the top of their game in Scotland.
“This is the latest in a string of accolades we have earned thanks to our economic contribution and our impact on the travel industry – won as a result of a dedicated team which always strives to be the best.
“In 2015 the London Scottish Exchange Group named us as one of the top 1000 companies to inspire Britain, our founder Bill Munro received an Inspiring City Award for ‘Outstanding Contribution by a Business Leader’ and was also inducted into the Travel and Hospitality Hall of Fame.
“It’s our people that really make our business. From our dedicated team of staff to our incredible customers, we are delighted to be able to share our success with the people that have supported Barrhead Travel’s journey.”
