Expedia is to re-brand its corporate travel business as Egencia as it bids to challenge global travel management giants Amex and Carlson Wagonlit Travel.
The move will give the online travel retailer a fourth major brand to add to its Expedia, Hotels.com and TripAdvisor businesses.
Expedia is already the world’s fifth-biggest travel management company by turnover and chief executive Dara Khosrowshahi said the sector had shown faster growth than leisure travel in the first quarter of the year.
Khosrowshahi said: “The goal is to set this brand as an industry heavyweight. We are going to expand Egencia on a global basis.”
