Adventure operator Exodus Travels has forged a three-year partnership with non-profit organisation parkrun UK.
Parkrun UK supports volunteers in local communities to provide free weekly 5k events that are open to walkers and runners of all ages and abilities.
Exodus Travels managing director Pete Burrell has participated in several runs with his family before suffering from a heart attack a year ago.
He has since picked up on running with parkrun again to build up his fitness and overall health.
Burrell said: “Since having my heart attack, I’ve started running with parkrun again to improve my fitness.
“The run always makes me start the weekend on a positive note and what I find the most encouraging and appealing about it is that it’s non-competitive. It’s a great way to run at your own pace and for your own benefit.
“I’ve gone for runs in some of the most beautiful places in the world abroad, however one of my favourite places is still Wimbledon Common, which I’m local to and is where I did my first parkrun.
“I’m very lucky to have a beautiful park near me where I can go for runs whilst still in London.”
