Heal hits back at Elite recruitment drive

Worldchoice chairman Colin Heal has hit back at the Elite Travel Group’s recruitment drive to target its members.

Elite is hoping to recruit as many as 50 new members and believes many Worldchoice members will be interested in joining because of the current merger with the Travel Trust Association, now in its final stages.

But Heal denied Worldchoice members would want to join a smaller consortium and said “not one member” had mentioned jumping ship to join consortium Elite.

He said: “Elite’s subscriptions are cheap but their commission levels are way below those of Worldchoice.”

Heal also said Worldchoice’s Target Tracker scheme enabled members who hit sales targets to have substantially reduced subscription payments, sometimes up to 60% less, adding there has been no subscription increase for four years.

An extraordinary general meeting on the Worldchoice/TTA merger is due to be held on September 3.
