Travel Weekly features writer Laura French has been shortlisted in the annual Association of Independent Tour Operators’ Travel Writer of the Year awards.
Her feature on Swedish Lapland is one of six shortlisted for Aito Travel Trade Writer of the Year.
The overall shortlist across five categories came from a total of 298 entries – the highest number received since the awards started in 1997.
Aito said: “Entries were of an extremely high standard, and the competition for places on the short list was more intense than ever.”
French said: “I’m delighted to have been shortlisted from a pool of hugely talented writers and it’s an honour to be representing Travel Weekly.”
The winners will be announced at an awards ceremony in London on October 17.
Cash prizes will be awarded to the winning writers, with £250 up for grabs for the best travel trade writer of the year.
