Hotelbeds-owned wholesaler Tourico Holidays has reported a 93% increase in Asia Pacific hotel bookings in 2017 over the previous year.
Indonesia saw the highest annual growth, with bookings up 111% in 2017, China was on 88%, Singapore 79%, Malaysia 78%, Australia 63%, and Thailand 39%.
Tourico said growth is being driven by nearly every international source market including the US which was up 46%, Canada, up 98%, South America 64%, Europe 96%, and the UK 95%.
Domestic travel within Asia-Pacific also grew significantly, increasing by 107% in 2017.
Hillary Wang, regional director of product development in North Asia for Tourico Holidays, said: “The Asia-Pacific travel market has advanced at an unprecedented rate in 2017 – and there are no real signs of a slow-down.
“Travel suppliers serving the Asia-Pacific market should expect consistent, diversified demand to countries throughout the region.”
As the demand for Asia-Pacific rises Tourico said it has added local rooms to its inventory and in 2017 increased its number of APAC hotel partners by 40%.
Wang added: “With travellers from all of the primary source markets booking product in Asia-Pacific, our network of distribution clients can be confident that Tourico will continue to add a diversified portfolio of hotels throughout the market.”
