Two luxury tour operators are preparing to make as many as 43 people redundant despite claims that the luxury sector is beating the downturn.
ITC Classics head of business development Jennifer Atkinson said the company has entered a consultation period with 18 staff. It is hoped not all will be made redundant.
Among those facing an uncertain future are its two on-the-road agency sales staff. Atkinson said the consultation would be completed by the end of the month, adding: “Business is a lot tougher, there’s a lot of competition out there.”
Elegant Resorts is conducting a 30-day consultation with 25 staff. Managing director scheduled business Sue Biggs said the decision followed a review of the company’s productivity.
