Association of Independent Tour Operators Specialist Travel Agents are reaping the rewards of the first AITO Week.
Members held various events and competitions at their shops or in local venues from October 6 to promote their business to the local area.
Oliver Broad from Robert Broad Travel in Litchfield hosted an open day, offering clients a glass of champagne and a look at AITO’s new Wildlife brochure.
“It was a chance to celebrate our new-look shop and thank our clients for their support. The event attracted current clients and some we haven’t seen for ages. It allowed us to tell them about new products and we got some bookings as a result,” he said.
Kitts Travel managing director Andy Rowdon has an extra 200 names and addresses on his database as a result of a tennis tournament he hosted.
“This was great PR for the business. Everyone thought the tournament was really well organised and that reflects well on the agency.
“We’re following it up with a mailshot thanking everyone for taking part.”
The association plans to make AITO Week a regular event.
