London most popular destination for coach breaks

London tops the list of most popular destinations by coach during February school half term, according to National Express.

Bristol has the second most bookings, followed by Birmingham, Manchester and Cardiff, the UK’s largest coach operator revealed.

Bookings figures are reported to be up by nearly 10% on last year and thousands of extra seats being added to services to cope with the more than 700,000 passengers expected during the holiday.

Bookings for travel to both Bristol and Birmingham are up by nearly a third while there has been a nearly 40% increase in bookings to Manchester compared to this time in 2017.

Heathrow is the most popular UK airport by coach with passenger numbers up nearly 17% on last year.

National Express Coach managing director Chris Hardy said: ‘With the Christmas holidays now a distant memory, many people will be looking to take a well earned break with their families or friends at half term.

“It’s no wonder that growing numbers of people are opting to travel by coach.

“With fares starting at just £5, it represents excellent value and National Express passengers also enjoy a guaranteed seat and our on-board entertainment system to help relax during the journey.”
