Harvey World Travel bosses made redundant

Harvey World Travel’s general manager Andy Tomlinson and head of operations Natalie Turner have been made redundant.

Their last day working at the travel agency chain of around 60 shops was Friday, December 19. Turner’s assistant has also been made redundant by the group, owned by Stella Travel Services UK.

Tomlinson has been at HWT for four years after working at travel agency Travel Factory, which he set up with former HWT managing director John Donnelly. This was bought by HWT, where Tomlinson started as head of commercial and marketing before becoming general manager in September last year following Donnelly’s departure. Previously he also worked for First Choice.

Tomlinson said he hoped to continue working in the travel industry but would be taking a few weeks off over Christmas to spend time with his family. “It’s time for a fresh start. I have no plans as yet as to what I am going to do but I have been in travel for 20 years and it’s what I know so ideally I’d like to continue in travel,” he said.

Parent company Stella Travel Services is known to be conducting a review of its businesses, which also include Travel 2 and Global Travel Group. Last month staff at Travel 2’s Glasgow reservations centre went into consultation as part of a structual review and managing director Maria Whiteman left the business.

Meanwhile, it is understood several HWT shops have closed in the run-up to Christmas. No-one from Stella Travel Services was available to comment.
