Dozens of women attend Global Travel Group’s GNOW event

Twenty-six female travel agents attended an event hosted by the Global Travel Group on International Women’s Day to champion the role of women in travel.

The Global Network of Women (GNOW) event took place in Woughton House, Milton Keynes with eight suppliers in attendance.

Sessions included a showcase of new technology, a decision-making talk, a seminar on how to make promotions work and a session on planning and time management.

There was also speed dating-style networking opportunities.

The event was organised by Cherie Richards, commercial director at the Global Travel Group.

She said: “The Global Network of Women (GNOW) champions the role of women in travel, offering members the opportunity to network and hear from inspirational speakers from the world of travel and beyond. When championing the initiative the aim was to ensure that the sessions are shaped by our members.”

“Our members constantly reinforce that they want to learn from each other and have the chance to discuss in detail the matters that are affecting them and their businesses. We truly believe that the more people championing women in travel and discussing the issues that too often become a barrier to entry for women in our industry, the better.”
