Durham Tees Valley Airport commercial director David Grant is stepping up to become managing director.
Grant, who has 30 years commercial experience, will assume responsibility for the commercial and operational performance of the airport.
He joined Durham Tees Valley three years ago, firstly as business development director and then as commercial director.
He previously held a number of senior management roles in the aviation industry, including as a director at Prestwick airport.
The airport is owned by Peel Airports which also runs Liverpool on Lennon airport and Doncaster Sheffield airport, which outlined major expansion plans earlier tis week.
Durham Tees Valley chairman Robert Hough said: “The strengthening of our management team through David’s appointment underlines our commitment to Durham Tees Valley and the ‘Flying for the Future’ campaign which we launched in November.
“He has an impressive record in the industry and since joining us has played a key role in the progress we have made in securing the future of Durham Tees Valley airport.”
Grant added: “Being based in the region, I understand how important the airport is to the area and one of my key aims will be to work with all partners, including our local authorities, the Tees Valley Combined Authority and the business community in driving forward the objectives of the airport master plan and the potential for both growing aviation operations and exploiting the opportunities for generating income streams across the whole airport site.”
