Globe Travel Award winners to be revealed tonight

The cream of the travel industry will be honoured tonight at Travel Weekly’s Globe Travel Awards.

The awards have attracted the highest ever number of votes at 52,500  from both travel agents and consumers, demonstrating that the industry still wishes to recognise its successes despite concerns over the state of the economy.

Around 1,200 people are expected to attend the event at London’s Grosvenor House. For those not cannot come along, the winners will be posted on travelweekly.co.uk at midnight tonight and there will be TWTV videos and photos tommorrow morning.

TW Group publishing director Simon Ferguson said the waiting is almost over for the 48 awards to be held this evening. He said: “Winning a Globe award is a crucial badge of trust and confidence for the winning companies, and this will be essential during 2009.

“Both travel agents and their customers have spoken, and the record number of votes means our Globe Travel Award Winners really can claim to be the best in their field.”
