Travel agents will be able to search for UK self-catering properties when an online bedbank which had gone into administration is relaunched by the summer.
UK-inbound tour operator Discover Travel and Tours managing director Andrew Grieve said the relaunch of bedsearcher.co.uk comes following its acquisition for an undisclosed sum after it went into receivership two weeks ago.
The site, which features around 1,000 UK properties, will be updated before its relaunch in time for late summer sales complete with its own separate travel agent section.
Grieve said: “The site needs quite a significant revamp, it is very tired as it is two years old and it looks and feels it.”
He hopes travel agents, who are often better informed about overseas product than that in the UK, will use the bedbank to help them sell more domestic holidays, adding: “Travel agents will have clients banging on their doors looking for domestic product.”
Five bedsearcher staff were made redundant by the administrators while the site’s offices will be relocated from Darlington to Discover Travel and Tours’ offices in Worcester.
