Former England and Manchester United captain Rio Ferdinand will lead children’s football courses as part of a holiday camp organised by specialist travel firm Football Escapes.
The sessions will be run at the Quinta do Lago resort on the Portuguese Algarve during school half-term between May 28-June 1.
The courses for boys and girls aged five to15 of all abilities will take place at ‘The Campus’ at the resort, Europe’s newest premier football facility and multi-sport academy hub.
Ferdinand will be joined by Republic of Ireland and Brighton and Hove Albion women’s full-back, Sophie Perry. Teammate and Northern Ireland defender Laura Rafferty will also join the coaching team.
Each child that enrols will be provided with a full kit, including shirt, shorts and socks, as well as a medal and signed certification on completion of the course.
The week-long coaching costs £500 including two hours of football each day.
Ferdinand said: “I’m looking forward to teaching the kids some skills and techniques and having the chance to meet some new faces.”
