Clean-water charity Just a Drop is holding its first ‘Go Blue 4 Just a Drop’ campaign to raise money for World Water Day.
Chairman Fiona Jeffery said both travel and tourism companies are being invited to take part in the day-long event which will see members of staff wear something blue to work on March 20, two days before World Water Day, and donate £2 to charity for doing so.
The money collected will then be used to help provide clean, accessible water for those who need it across the world. Currently a child dies every 17 seconds as a result of water-borne diseases.
Jeffery said: “The money we hope to raise will go towards desperately needed water-aid projects in some of the most poverty-stricken places in the world, from the ChikianEntza village in Ecuador to the community of Coquinal in Bolivia.
“We are extremely grateful for all the support we have had from the industry over the last 10 years and hope that the launch of this campaign will encourage many more generous contributions.”
So far Just a Drop has helped 900,000 people from 28 countries by building protecting wells, installing piping and providing sanitation. To find out more visit justadrop.org.
