Coach tour operators target cruise agents

Insight Vacations and Trafalgar Tours are targeting cruise agents with a new travel agent rescue pack as they claim to offer higher commissions.

Sales director Paul Melinis said the average commission on offer for both the coach tour operators is 15% as opposed to cruise operators, which he claimed paid an average of 12% in commissions.

With 78% of both Insight and Trafalgar customers having also taken a cruise, Melinis added there was a perfect opportunity for cruise agents to attract additional sales by offering their customers coach tours.

He said: “A lot of cruise customers return to destinations visited on a cruise, so if that agent isn’t selling it to them then someone else is! An escorted tour is an ideal way for them to revisit a specific region or country.”

Melinis said agents can request a travel agent rescue pack by visiting the campaign microsite trafalgar.com/uk/rescue where they can download or request a pack.

He added: “Once an agent has requested a pack we’ll send them the travel agent rescue pack flyer explaining how we can help and what the next steps are. One of our sales managers will then contact them to arrange an in-store training session specifically tailored for this campaign.

“Agents will then have the tools they need to promote escorted touring to their existing cruise customer base. We have produced materials to help them do this including direct mail material and email information to send clients.”
