Willie Walsh, chief executive of British Airways owner International Airlines Group, has been confirmed as keynote speaker at next month’s GTMC overseas conference in Ireland.
Travelport executive vice president and chief commercial officer Stephen Shurrock will also address the event.
Other speakers include William Hobbs, head of strategic investment at Barclays, talking about the current state of the worldwide economy; David Trunkfield, a partner at PwC, on how travel businesses are faring; and Radio 4 broadcaster Steve Richards, looking at the political landscape at home and abroad.
Liz Emmott, UK general manager of Amadeus; Nicola McGrane of Conference Partners International; Venues Directory’s Michael Begley; and Alice Ferrari of Founders Factory are also lined up to speak.
Under the theme of ‘Mind the Gap’, conference sessions will cover post-Brexit topics including the state of the economy, as well as the changing meetings and incentive market.
The conference is being held at the Powerscourt Hotel Resort & Spa in Wicklow on June 10-12.
GTMC chief executive Adrian Parkes said: “The confusion over Brexit and the UK’s future border arrangements with the Republic are sure to feature in the thoughts of delegates as we bring our conference to Ireland.
“I am especially looking forward to discovering how Steve Richards views the situation. He has a long career in political journalism and as host of Week in Westminster on Radio 4 is very well connected to the biggest figures in the government. I’m sure we will get some fascinating insight from him.”
