Some of the world’s top experts in tourism and crisis management will offer their insights at the third annual International Travel Crisis Management Summit.
The event, which will see 300 leading figures from the global travel industry gather in London on November 8, will feature speakers from Mastercard, TripAdvisor and travel insurance provider Ingle International.
The day-long summit will also hear from Minister of Tourism of Jamaica the Honourable Edmund Bartlett, an ardent proponent of international alliances in the tourism sector.
Ian Slater, senior vice president of partnerships, at global payments giant Mastercard will join a panel discussing the world Travel and Tourism Council’s Seamless Traveller Journey Programme.
The programme is working on new biometric technology that it hopes will be adopted globally to provide travellers with a safe and seamless passage through borders.
Mastercard will talk about how advances in biometrics are also behind its ambitious programme that is seeing the transition to a cashless society.
ITCMS will also hear from Sally Davey, global director industry relations at TripAdvisor, about how destinations can improve their resilience through the creative use of analytics.
She will present three case studies on Nepal, Greece and London where data provided direction and guidance in making decisions when preparing for and reacting to crises.
Robin Ingle, chief executive of Toronto-based Ingle International, brings with him four decades of experience in insurance, counter terrorism and close protection deployment.
He will tell delegates how latest technology was used to create Travel Navigator, a web and mobile application designed to keep travellers safe and reassure businesses that their employees’ duty of care requirements have been met by host governments.
The ITCMS agenda will also feature addresses from Europe’s largest travel company TUI Group on how it is mastering crisis communications, and WTTC president and chief executive Gloria Guevara who will give a keynote on the impact of biometrics.
Panel sessions will focus on fake news and crisis reporting, best practices in crisis management and the strategic initiatives destinations are employing to ensure resilience in a crisis.
The International Institute for Peace Through Tourism (IIPT) is partnering with Jacobs Media Group at ITCMS to present the IIPT Champions in Challenge Award to three global leaders during the ITCMS conference in London on Thursday 08 November.
The awards, sponsored by Finn Partners, are a way of honouring these leaders who have stood forward in exceptional times of challenge and have made a real difference through their words and their actions.
ITCMS founder and Jacobs Media Group’s Group Business Development Director Daniela Wagner, said: “We have put together a fantastic line-up of speakers for this year’s Summit which has quickly established itself as a vital forum for the most senior leaders in our industry to discuss the big issues and challenges they face in an uncertain world.
“Putting aside competitive instincts and sharing best practice and ideas has never been more important to ensure the travel industry continues to offer safe and enjoyable experiences for all and, when things inevitable do go wrong, to have in place collaborative and efficient processes to mitigate the impact.
“This year’s ITCMS will be the biggest and best yet, so I’m really looking forward to welcoming all our delegates at a new venue for this year for what should be a fascinating and productive day of sessions, talks and networking.”
