Meliá Hotels International has added three new upcoming properties to its portfolio.
The recent acquisition of Meliá Hoi An and Meliá Phu Quoc in Vietnam, as well as Meliá Phuket Karon in Thailand, boosts its hotel numbers in the Asia Pacific to 51. This has increased from six hotels in 2012.
Scheduled to open in 2021, the 224-room Meliá Phuket Karon will be surrounded by 64,000 square-metres of untouched forest, more than half of which has been set aside for an Adventure Eco Park created to promote and preserve the ecology of Karon.
The following year will see the arrival of two more hotels, including the 380-room Meliá Phu Quoc, which will lie along the beach line of Phu Quoc Island, and the 150-room Meliá Hoi An, located in the middle of the Hoi An Ancient Town UNESCO World Heritage Site in Quang Nam Province.
Gabriel Escarrer, executive vice chairman and CEO, said: “As the third largest hotel company in Europe, we at Meliá we are very comfortable with the rate of our growth in Asia Pacific, in line with the dynamic nature of the region itself, and look forward to continuing our strong momentum and commitment to Asia Pacific.”
