Travel Counsellors issues new recruitment pack

Travel Counsellors has produced a new recruitment pack to attract travel professionals who may have lost their jobs or who are looking to start their own businesses.

The pack, which contains a 20-page brochure and a DVD, features travel counsellors talking about their jobs “from an honest and personal perspective”.

Topics covered include earnings, work-life balance, the support they receive from Travel Counsellors head office and the technology they use.

The company currently has more than 730 homeworking travel agents in the UK and a total of 1,100 worldwide, but is keen to increase its base of top-quality agents, said managing director Steve Byrne.

“This number has remained fairly stable over the past year but we are recently seeing an increase in enquiries from areas such as business travel and those who have been made redundant.”

“We’re looking to recruit the best agents in the industry with a minimum of four years’ experience.

“They have to be the right people who are focused on building their own business as part of the company so we don’t have a set number that we aim to recruit, just a focus on quality.”

In June this year Travel Counsellors hosted two roadshows targeting some of the 80 people who lost their jobs when Harvey World Travel went into administration in the same month.

“We met with a number of agents who were interested in finding out more about joining the company and although many are still trying to claim redundancy and outstanding payments, we now have several potential recruitments in the pipeline,” said Byrne.
