Thomas Cook cuts flight-only commission to 0.1%

Thomas Cook has reduced its flight-only agent commission from 1% to 0.1%.

As of September 11, the vertically integrated operator cut commission for all bookings made through viewdata.

A Thomas Cook spokesman said: “We have taken the decision to adjust the seat-only commission on viewdata bookings for Thomas Cook Airlines.

“This has stood at 1% for more than two years and, during that time, we have seen an increase in bookings through our flythomascook.com service, which offers increased flexibility and now accounts for the largest proportion of our seat-only bookings.

“This consolidation to 0.1% will allow us to compete with commission-free low-cost airlines, many of which are regularly used by agents who dynamically package product.”

A TUI UK and Ireland spokeswoman confirmed it is continuing to pay 10% commission for agents booking Thomson Airways as flight-only product.
