Dynamic packaging ‘buoyant’ over summer

Dynamic packaging remained buoyant this summer because of a late sales surge, according to bed bank youtravel.com.

In June, July and August, average sales value was up 12% against summer 2008, largely because of currency fluctuations. Sales volumes were equal to last year.

Majorca was the top seller this summer, with Sharm el-Sheikh second, and Dalaman, Turkey, third. This was followed by the Algarve, Rhodes, Costa Blanca, Crete and Costa del Sol.

Youtravel.com sales and marketing director Paul Riches said: “Egypt performed well, proving it is a real contender as a year-round destination.”

Youtravel.com’s bookings for winter 09/10 are down 10% against last year. However, the bed bank predicts that Tunisia is set to be popular as it offers budget-friendly bookings and is not in the eurozone.
