Four new people have been appointed to The Travel Foundation’s board of trustees.
- Thomas Cook director of government and external affairs Andy Cooper
- Cunard Line managing director Peter Shanks
- TUI Travel communications director Christian Cull
- Rodney Anderson, Department for Environment, Food, and Rural Affairs, former director of Marine and Fisheries
The four will take up the new roles from January 1 2010.
The new appointments will replace the three retiring trustees – Dermot Blastland, Hugh Somerville and Dinah Nichols. They are all stepping down as part of a planned rotation of trustees.
Travel Foundation chief executive Sue Hurdle said: “The new trustees bring a wealth of experience and specialist knowledge. Andy has an excellent government relations background while Peter has had first-hand experience of tackling the sustainability issues facing the cruise industry.
“I’m also delighted to welcome Christian, who brings expertise from outside the travel industry with his background in retail at Waitrose and broadcasting at BSkyB. Rodney’s practical experience of water and fishery issues is highly relevant to tourism and his experience of tackling these issues from within government will be invaluable.”
