ITT launches potential replacement to Aspire

The Institute of Travel and Tourism (ITT) is launching a student training event that could replace the old Aspire conference.

ITT education and training committee chairwoman Claire Steiner said the Future You mini conference will run for two hours on the Thursday morning of World Travel Market.

The new event will be for students only at the exclusion of young professionals and will feature talks from representatives from a variety of companies, including London City Airport and attractions owner, Ripley’s Believe It Or Not.

It is hoped the event will prove popular enough to lead to further training and will replace Aspire, which came to an end in 2007 due to a lack of interest.

Steiner said: “Our Aspire conference focused on the aspirational side of working in travel; the Future You conference is not a direct replacement but it has a lot of similarities.

“It is about students having a career in travel and not just a job, we want them to think about us as offering careers instead of just jobs.”
