Lowcost Travel Group’s sales double

The Lowcost Travel Group has seen sales double in its fifth year of trading.

Following the close of its financial year on October 31, the group announced sales have grown from £55 million in 2007/08 to £109 million during 2008/09.

The growth in sales has been partially driven by Resorthoppa carrying more than one million passengers during the financial year, its highest ever.

Key areas of growth have been in Palma, Gerona and Alicante where the holiday transfer company has a strong infrastructure, airport desks and more than 30 uniformed staff to assist passengers.

Meanwhile, its bed bank lowcostbeds.com has seen a dramatic increase in sales in a number of key destinations, including Egypt, up by 229%, Turkey, up by 144%, Crete, which increased by 142%, Majorca, up by 118%, and Cost Blanca, which increased by 90%.

Sales of all-inclusive properties also helped drive the growth, allowing them to account for 36% of total accommodation-only sales.

Chief executive Paul Evans said: “We are immensely proud of our achievements this year, in a very tough environment we have well exceeded all of our expectations.

“We are optimistic about 2010, we have some great relationships overseas that are securing even better rates, we continue to win new customers, our complaint ratio is less than 1%, and we have some exciting new products to offer the market next year.”
