Bath Travel is celebrating after its turnover fell by £10 million this year – half the figure it predicted.
Speaking at the Elite Travel Group conference in Bournemouth at the weekend, joint managing director Stephen Bath said the agency forecast in March that the recession would lead to turnover plummeting by £20 million year-on-year by November. However, the decrease has been halved as consumers returned to the high street following an upswing in confidence in the economy.
“Our turnover is down £10 million and we are celebrating. I’ve been in the industry for 37 years and this has been the worst year by far. There’s 15% less money in the economy and you can’t do much if the money isn’t there,” Bath said.
