Deals website Travelzoo has announced that its executive vice-president for Europe Chris Loughlin will take over as chief executive in July next year.
He will replace current boss Holger Bartel, who will take over from his brother Ralph as chairman of the board. Ralph, who has been chairman for more than a decade, remains with the business as a board member.
Ralph Bartel Said: “The company has aggressive growth plans. With Chris as chief executive and Holger as chairman of the board, we will continue to have a winning team with a strong track record.
“Chris has led Travelzoo’s business in Europe to year-on-year growth rates of 100% or more in each of the four most recent quarters.”
Loughlin’s promotion comes after eight years with the business. He started out as business development director in 2001, based in Silicon Valley. In 2003, he moved to Chicago to help with the North American business before moving to London in 2005 to kickstart Travelzoo in Europe with the UK site.
He will be based in New York in his new role.
