The new Star Wars land at Disney’s parks in California and Florida are to open ahead of schedule.
Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, will open at Disneyland Park in California on May 31, and at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Florida on August 29.
It has been designed to ‘transport guests to the planet of Batuu’ offering the chance to become ‘part of the Star Wars story’.
Guests planning to visit the new land at Disneyland Park between May 31, and June 23, will need valid theme park admission and be required to make a no-cost reservation to access the land.
Information on how to make a reservation will be available at a later date on Disneyland.com and the Disney Parks Blog. Guests staying at one of the three Disneyland Resort hotels during these dates will receive a designated reservation to access the land during their stay (one reservation per registered guest).
The land will feature two major attractions. From day one, the Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run ride will allow guests to simulate driving the spaceship seen in the films.
A phase two opening later in the year will be Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance which will drop guests in the middle of a climactic battle between the First Order and the Resistance.
Disney said it made the decision to open the land in phases as a result of demand.
